FRISE EG

After two years of intensive planning, Hamburg’s first artists’ cooperative, FRISE eG, was founded in the spring of 2008. The cooperative supports the interests of the two associations Künstlerhaus Hamburg e.V. and Abbildungszentrum e.V.. It promotes the fine arts and their concept of living, working (studios) and exchange of artistic production. It enables a long-term perspective for the hiring artists.
In cooperation with Greenpeace Energy, FRISE eG has installed a photovoltaic system on the roof of the house in 2016.

Membership in the cooperative requires the artist to be a member of one of the two associations. A minimum of two cooperative shares of 50 € must be subscribed. Whoever does not meet these requirements can become a sustaining member. Sustaining members can participate in the meetings and discussions of the cooperative but have no voting rights. They support the goals of FRISE eG ideally and financially and have made it possible to acquire a loan of 1.38 million € for the acquisition of the heritable building right from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg with their cooperative deposits (at an interest rate of 2.5 %).
